  • Day 1: Introduction to Lymphedema

  • Day 2: Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)
    • Hands-on practice of MLD techniques for Neck & upper limb for normal lymphatic system
    • Hands-on practice of MLD techniques for Neck & upper limb for pathological lymphatic system
    • Case studies discussion
  • Day 3: Compression Therapy
    • Types of compression bandages and garments
    • Techniques for multi-layer compression bandaging for upper limb
    • Practical session on bandaging
  • Day 4: Lower limb MLD and bandaging
    • Hands-on practice of MLD techniques for lower limb for normal lymphatic system
    • Hands-on practice of MLD techniques for lower limb for pathological lymphatic system
    • Case studies discussion
    • Techniques for multi-layer compression bandaging for lower limb

Learning  Objectives

  • Understand the anatomy, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation of lymphedema.
  • Identify treatment components of Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) – Skin Care, Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD), Bandaging, and Exercise.
  • Introduction to manual lymphatic drainage techniques for upper and lower limbs according to Vodder’s Techniques.
  • Demonstrate basic multi-layer lymphedema bandaging by creating an effective, graduated compression system for the arm and leg.
  • Demonstrate MLD and compression therapy for several case studies.

  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
  • Prior experience in physical therapy or a related healthcare field
