This program consists of two comprehensive blocks, each focusing on key aspects of neuro-rehabilitation to provide a complete learning experience.

 

Block 1: Manual Guidelines, Exercise Retraining and Clinical Approaches

• Neuroanatomy and pathophysiology of stroke, spinal cord injury, and Parkinson’s disease.

• Principles of motor learning and neuroplasticity.

• Standardized assessment tools (e.g., Fugl-Meyer Assessment, Berg Balance Scale).

• Basic therapeutic interventions (e.g., positioning, mobility training).

Block 2: Management Strategies & Practical Guidelines

• Advanced gait and balance training.

• Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) and task-specific training.

• Spasticity management and adaptive equipment use.

• Case-based learning and patient-centered goal setting.

Learning  Objectives

• Understand neuroplasticity and recovery mechanisms in neurological disorders.

• Develop foundational treatment strategies for early-stage rehabilitation

Block 2: Management Strategies & Practical Guidelines

• Apply advanced neuro-rehab techniques (e.g., robotics, virtual reality).

• Design individualized rehab plans for complex cases.

• Integrate interdisciplinary approaches for functional recovery.

• The course is designed for physical and/or occupational therapists, graduates, or interns who are eager to add to their knowledge to help clients with different neurological conditions. A pass in the neurological rehabilitation semester is a must for the students who were not enrolled in the internship year yet.

• Since this course is highly practical, it is recommended to wear light, comfortable clothes, preferably cotton-based, to ease the practical labs.
• It is recommended to finish the online modules before the start of the teaching days to get the highest benefit of understanding the course.
• Practical quizzes are applicable by the end of the third day of the course for evaluation as well as allowing the instructor to add the best recommendations for practical and clinical reasoning improvement.

• Participants will possess the knowledge, skills, and clinical reasoning abilities needed to effectively assess, treat, and manage clients with neurological conditions, optimizing functional outcomes and quality of life.
• Participants will develop proficiency in comprehensive assessment, therapeutic techniques, and holistic treatment planning for patients with neurological disorders.
• The skills and knowledge gained from the course will enable participants to provide more effective, evidence-based neurological rehabilitation services, thereby improving patient outcomes, functional abilities, quality of life, and patient satisfaction.
• The course will empower rehabilitation professionals, including physical and occupational therapists, to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and deliver patient-centered rehabilitation plans.
• The Neurological Rehabilitation Certificate will make participants more competitive for specialized positions in their careers.
• This course can inspire participants to engage in research activities and provide their clients with best practices, building innovative treatment programs based on Evidence-Based Practice.

• The participants should review their core knowledge and skills in anatomy, pathophysiology, and clinical assessment related to the neurological systems. Refreshing this foundational knowledge will help participants better understand and apply the more advanced concepts covered in this course.

The participants will learn how to interpret a comprehensive assessment plan into a fruitful, patient-centered, tailored rehabilitation program based on the clinical findings. This will allow the participants to properly follow up on their cases as well as facilitate proper documentation.

The participants will use their knowledge to define their personal skills in the clinical assessment framework, clinical reasoning as well as ensuring the communication skills between their clients.
The participants will develop their critical thinking to define the complicated case scenarios seen in the clinical practice.
