The course will give the learners an in-depth overview of rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy (CP). According to the recent literature, expectations for outcomes and prognosis for those children will be explained. Physical therapy assessment and goal-directed interventions for non-ambulatory and ambulatory children with CP will also be covered. In addition, a comprehensive evaluation of upper limbs problems in children with CP as well as several therapies for those problems will be given. Moreover, ergonomic-based exercises will also be clarified. Full assessment and intervention will be applied to different cases of CP.
Objectives:

Identify cerebral palsy and its types.

Understand the expected prognosis for cerebral palsy.

Apply a comprehensive assessment for non-ambulatory and ambulatory children with CP.

Design and apply a physical therapy program for enhancing gross motor skills in children with CP.

Apply a comprehensive assessment for impaired upper limbs and fine motor skills in children with CP.

Plan and apply different interventions for upper limbs and fine motor skills in children with CP.

Discuss the clinical decision-making in the management of children with CP.

Module No. 1 – Online Teaching

Module No. 2 - Face-to-face Teaching - (3 days)
Title: Physical Therapy Management of Cerebral Palsy
1. Comprehensive physical therapy assessment for children with cerebral palsy.

Using screening and comprehensive scales for the assessment of gross motor skills
2. Design a physical therapy program for the improvement of gross motor skills in children with cerebral palsy.

Identification of the treatment goals.

Goal-directed physical therapy interventions for non-ambulatory and ambulatory children with CP.

Comprehensive assessment and intervention will be applied to a variety of cases with CP.
3. Prediction of prognosis and outcomes for children with CP.
